Mountain Man of Presents - Fiona Starr
Reading Challenge Category: Just wanted to read
Official Blurb:
Fake it til you make it, right? That’s Holly Evan’s motto this Christmas. Her latest romance has fallen apart—as they all do—she’s not feeling her passion for her DIY social media platform any longer, and all she wants to do is run away from everything. When the chance to interview Kieran Blaze, a private and elusive carpenter in the mountains of Colorado falls into her lap, she jumps at the chance. Anything’s better than what she’s got right now. Kieran Blaze wants nothing to do with the outside world. After years of war and loss, he’s happy in his small mountain workshop nestled deep in the woods. His family keeps trying to pry him out, but everything in him resists. It’s better that he keeps his distance; when you don’t make connections, no one gets hurt. But when Holly Evans arrives, she’s his opposite in almost every way. She threatens his safe little bubble and turns his entire world upside down. If he’s not careful, she’ll carve a place in his heart.
My Thoughts:
This is the second of the Flirt Club’s Mountain Men series books that I have read. Holly and Kieran were fun to spend an hour with in this fast and feisty story. Holly is going through a bad year (must be set in 2020!!) and when she gets the opportunity to escape for a few days to interview a mountain man she drags herself out of her comfort zone and heads to Blaze mountain. There is lots of drama and events in this short story, and Holly needs to come with a warning hazard for the mishaps she found herself in. She wasn’t the most likeable of characters and went from zero to one hundred in her anger with Kieron. One time it came out of nowhere, and I did feel sorry for him, if they get their happy ever after he will spend his life being nagged and shouted at! This wasn’t a bad read and made for a pleasant hour of reading before bed. It wasn’t as enthralling as the first in the series, but that doesn’t mean there was anything wrong with it either. I do wonder how many more Blazes there are left for this author to write about though; they seem to keep multiplying!
