Official Blurb:

I hated to play her...
But she left me no choice with her betrayal.
Star-crossed lovers doesn’t even begin to describe what happened seventeen years ago when I fell for the one girl I shouldn’t have.
The forbidden. Our Rival. My enemy.
Piper Collins.
She was perfect, despite her family name. Too good to be true... too bad she was a snitch.
Planted to infiltrate our club. I guess ripping my heart out was just a bonus.
And when the truth was discovered, her and her family were dealt with in the only was my father knew.
I buried my feelings, knowing I’d never see her again.
But as I try to set my daughter on a new path, I walk straight into my past, and find myself face to face with Piper.
And when I did, it all came roaring back. The love, the hate.
She played me, and it was time for my pay back.
Because now, I have a game and she’s the perfect pawn.

My Thoughts:

I’ve really loved the Rebel Ink series, and I’m gutted this is the last in the series. Although the author has hinted at a story for Ellie in the future, it won’t be quite the same.
Zach, Titch, Spike and Dawson have been very unique characters and have had a level of darkness about their stories that have brought an exciting element to this series.
We have only seen Dawson in the background of the other books, and he was somewhat of an enigma. Other than him having some very dodgy family members that helped Kas and Spike we didn’t know much else about him.
Well, that was certainly rectified in this story, and I have to say I think he is my favourite Rebel Ink character, despite his hard man exterior he had a vulnerability about him. He has been hurt by all the people he should have been able to trust, and this has affected him more than he wanted to let on.
I can’t say I understood the whole of the MC side of things. In fact, I had to even look up what an MC was. There were quite a few specific references that I just didn’t get, and I’m not sure you will unless you are familiar to the MC world. Such as someone taking off an item of clothing, oh I can’t remember what it was called now, I think like a vest jacket or something. This action meant something, but it wasn’t explained what. I felt like I needed a little more spoon-feeding of the specifics.
There are lots of hidden secrets, and they get revealed very slowly, I think I would rather have been hit by all the truth all at once to get the bigger impact of what Piper had done in the past. It felt a little filtered by revealing a little at a time. So when it had all been pieced together, I was a bit like “is that it?!” It had been built up to feel like it was going to be something more terrible.
Despite these few plot line issues I had, this was still a very enjoyable read. Even though Dawson is my favourite Rebel Ink boy, I’m not sure his story was my favourite. It did finish off the series nicely, and we do get to see all the other characters a few times too. It did feel like everything came together in the end, which is just what we want from these books.
I’m hoping Tracy manages to find another story in this world somewhere as it just doesn’t feel right ending. This has been a spin-off from a spin-off from her original set of books (The Falling series), and that whole world can’t just end!
