My Thoughts:

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this book. I was expecting it to be stuffy and prim and proper. I don’t know why!
However, I really enjoyed it. It felt so true, raw and real. I’d never given much thought to what the nurses of the war had to endure. I’d always assumed because they were women they would be more looked after and cosseted but their days were just as dangerous and gruelling. I hadn’t even thought about nurses needing to be near the front line before. How naive of me.
This book had you on the edge of your seat as you knew no one was safe from the turmoil and threat that war could bring to human life and to the women’s hearts.
I’ve read three books since I read this one (I just haven’t gotten around to writing my thoughts on it yet) but the feeling of this book has stayed with me. I feel like I want to tell everyone to read it, and I also feel like I’m not finished with it yet either. It’s not often a book affects me like this!
