Provoke: B.A.D INC #4- Tracy Lorraine and Angel Devlin
Reading Challenge Category: Free ARC from Booksprout
Official Blurb:
Mine to push, mine to tease, mine to provoke. I live for domination. In the boardroom and the bedroom. But while I thrive in business, my personal life is in disarray. It’s always been Jackie and Oliver. It’s all the others have ever known. The two of us, seemingly perfect. Except, many times there have been three… I need more and I realise just how wrong Oliver Ward is for me, when guitarist Easton Cooper strolls into my life. Because he’s so right. As I fall deeper into Easton’s thrall, Oliver falls deeper into madness. I only hope he won’t break.
My Thoughts:
I’ve been waiting very impatiently for the continuation of this series, so I was super excited when it was finally released on Booksprout. I did hesitate before requesting it, though, due to the warning that it involves MFM scenes. I’m not a big lover of menage stories, so I wasn’t sure what to do. I left it a little while and pondered on it, and the need to read the rest of the series won out. I quickly logged onto Booksprout, hoping it would still be there and grabbed it quick. So I am going to not let the MFM scenes affect my review of this book; I was warned and proceeded anyway. I’m so glad I took the chance on this; the part I wasn’t looking forward to was actually quite tastefully done. There is a purpose and a poignancy to the act, and it wasn’t overdone. I was quite happy that it was just once and relevant to the story. Moving on from that, I loved this storyline. We have seen glimpses of Jackie and even a bit from Oliver in the past three books. Yet, there was a familiarity when reading about them in more detail as they were already part of the ‘family’ we had let into our lives. The story alternates between Jackie’s and Easton’s points of view, but we are allowed insight into how Oliver feels throughout the book’s progression. This was really welcomed as it wasn’t just about the two main protagonists; his feelings were important too. Oliver isn’t portrayed very favourably, however. He comes across as pathetic, possessive and a little creepy. I do hope (and I’m sure it will be) that our perspective of him will be completely overturned when we read the final instalment of this series. The book is as dark as the others have been, and there is plenty of drama, ups and downs and kinkiness in this book to keep you hooked right the way through. It is shorter than the others in the series have been, but it didn’t feel rushed. I felt like I got to know the characters adequately, and it made the story even more intense as so much has to be packed into so few pages. There is a cliffhanger at the end (again warned about before requesting on Booksprout); this will leave you wanting to pick the next instalment up right away. Luckily the authors are being kind to us and not waiting too long before releasing it. I will still be chomping at the bit, though!
