Official Blurb:

How do you get past the loss of a friend? A friend you could have saved?
I sure as hell don’t know. If I did, I wouldn’t be here, far from the ocean and the only job I ever wanted, looking at cows and horses and big sky every night. But here I am. I agreed to stay on as a ranch hand with the craziest boss I’ve ever had – Freeze Buckley puts all my former CO’s to shame. And I used to jump out of helicopters for a living.
Freeze is sure this ranch in the middle of nowhere is the cure for all things. When I go into town and meet Taylor Claiborne, I start to think Freeze might be right. Problem is, Taylor’s running, just like I am. She’s got a past, just like I do. And there’s enough baggage in that past to fill an entire cart. Check that one for me, too.
I can’t stay away from her. I don’t want to. But I might not have a choice. I haven’t been doing well in the saving people thing – can I save us both when it counts?

My Thoughts:

I think that this has been my favourite of the Broken Falls Ranch stories so far. It felt well developed, realistic, and so well written (although there were a few typos).
It starts off very similarly to the second book; however, this time, the events weren’t overly rushed. You felt like you were getting a little bit more of a background story for both of the characters.
Raif and Taylor both arrive in Montana with a lot of healing to do. I liked how slowly they took their relationship and got to know one another first. They made sure that they both felt comfortable with what was happening rather than bedding one another and discussing it afterwards. It allowed you to really fall in love with the characters as well. I even forgot at one point that I was reading a steamy novel, so when the romance developed on to the next stage, it took me completely by surprise.
It was great to visit everyone else at the ranch again, too. It’s always good to see how past characters are getting on after you have left them.
This had a really gritty story running through it as well, with everything that has happened in Taylor’s past. I did feel like the villainizing of the ex’s family was a little over the top, but it didn’t ruin the story in any way.
The ending of this book was just perfect, also. It didn’t have the usual cliche but did have a lovely happy ever after. Overall, an excellent five star read.
