This was very disappointing. I was expecting it to be hard to read, but this wasn’t the problem as once I got used to remembering to read who was saying what, reading a play wasn’t the problem. The story itself and the writing was. It was rushed and was merely a rehash of a story already told. I would have rather had a new baddie, a new danger, anything rather than worrying that Voldemort was coming back. As for visiting the past, this felt like cheating and riding on the coattails of an already successful story, and one for an avid fan like myself I have read and watched (via the films) many times with a few tweaks. It was simply lazy. Ah well, I’ve read it now, and I can stop wondering who the cursed child is!
The only positive I can give this is that I could imagine the play, I could see it being acted out on a stage, so in that sense, it was a well-written playscript.
