Fury - Tracy Lorraine

Official Blurb:
I’m infuriated by my feelings for her... They’ve held me captive all this time. I might have been the one that walked away, but that doesn’t mean I’m not still haunted by her—by what I did to her. But that’s the thing about ghosts… they always return when you least expect it. My stepsister was an outlet for my pain, but everything has changed. Now I’ve got nothing to lose. If she thought I hated her the first time we met, then she’s about to get a shock. The rage I felt didn’t compare to the fury that now consumes me. I might be empty, but I’m going to show her how it feels by taking away everything she has... one painful piece at a time.
My Thoughts:
Well, this one certainly starts off with a bang and doesn’t hold back. You are instantly hooked from that first chapter. You really need to have read the Halloween prequel to enjoy this book as it introduces the two main characters, Ruby and Ashton. ‘Faze’ is where their story starts, and we continue not long after here in ‘Fury’ with their full story. I think having the prequel really helped you feel like you already knew the characters, it meant we could get straight down into the story proper, and Tracy Lorraine doesn’t hold back. I really wanted to hate Ashton but I just couldn’t. I flip-flopped between wanting to smack him around the head and giving him a big hug. He has gone through so much, and he’s hurting but this, in turn, means he’s prepared to lash out at everyone including those that are the closest - Ruby! Ruby starts off being relatively weak-willed but really comes into her own as the story unfolds. I love her sassiness towards the end, and I’m glad she holds out and doesn’t give into Ashton too quickly after he’s hurt her. Ruby and Ashton aren’t my favourite Rosewood couple, and I do wonder how there can be so many happy ever afters for seventeen/eighteen-year-olds. Will they all have found their ‘one’ in high school? If I had to bet on any of them not ending up together, it would be Ruby and Ashton. I think the heat is there in their teenage minds, but I’m not sure it can go the distance. Jake and Amelie, on the other hand, had better not break up! I hope that in Tracy Lorraine’s next series based at a university, we get to see some of the Rosewood characters may have moved on and found more grown-up love. I guess I will have to wait and see!
