My Thoughts:

Valerie Keogh's "The Widow" kept me thoroughly engaged from the first page to the last. The enigmatic character of Allison was a constant source of intrigue as her thoughts and actions often conflicted, making it challenging to pin down her true nature.
What struck me most about this novel was its intricate web of multiple storylines. Keogh masterfully wove together various threads of the narrative, each with its own set of compelling characters and mysteries. These diverse storylines kept me on my toes, eagerly anticipating how they would all intersect and culminate in the final chapters.
However, it was at the conclusion that my enthusiasm took a bit of a nosedive. While I appreciated the plot's complexity and intricacy, it felt like the author had planted too many red herrings along the way. As a result, the resolution seemed somewhat convoluted and messy, leaving me wishing for a more streamlined and satisfying ending.
One aspect that left me somewhat perplexed was Allison's erratic decision-making. Her character seemed to flip-flop between choices, which, at times, strained the bounds of plausibility. While I understand the desire to keep readers guessing, it felt like a few of her decisions were more for the sake of plot twists than true character development.
In summary, "The Widow" by Valerie Keogh is a novel that grips you with its multiple storylines and enigmatic characters. However, the abundance of red herrings and the occasionally implausible character actions make the ending somewhat disappointing.
