My Thoughts:
I'd just finished one Sibel Hodge book and wasn’t quite ready to be done with her brilliant writing and research. So, I immediately picked this one up and got stuck straight in! At first, it seemed really similar to one I’d read by John Mars ‘When You Disappeared’, however, the further into the book I got, the more I realised it couldn’t be any more different! This was so sinister; it had me gripping onto the edge of my seat and gasping out loud. I am a complete chocoholic, and I seriously need to research the companies I buy my chocolate from now. I’d love to say I could give it up, but I think I’m more in the ‘its an addiction’ phase to be able to do that! The direction this book went in was utterly shocking, and I didn’t second guess anything, so I just sat back and enjoyed it. I did find Nicole to be a little annoying and impulsive. I know she wanted answers, but she didn’t stop and think about the consequences for either herself or others. So, I can’t say she was that likeable a character. You could really tell, once again, that the author had thoroughly done her research into the topic covered. It was all very in-depth, and even though completely fiction, it was authentic and hard-hitting. This was another belter by Hodge; she certainly does deliver the unputdownable novel!
