Reading Challenge Category: Free ARC from NetGalley

Official Blurb:

Emily Jacobs, a nurse, is in hospital for a minor operation. When she wakes in the night, woozy with anaesthetic, she sees the doctor frantically trying to resuscitate the woman in the bed next to her. In the morning, she is told that she must have had a nightmare. The bed has been empty all along . . .
When Emily returns to work she discovers a bracelet that she believes belonged to the missing woman. Soon, she becomes convinced that her colleagues at the hospital are hiding a terrible secret.
What if she's wrong? What if her own troubled past has affected her more than she knows? But what if she's right?
What else could they be capable of?

My Thoughts:

Liz Lawler certainly knows how to write a first chapter that is going to hook you and terrify you at the same time!
I thought her last book’s first chapter was the most horrifying thing I’d ever read, but this one will give you nightmares! I was actually gripping onto the duvet in sheer fright whilst reading this first chapter!
All the way through the book it keeps you guessing and not knowing what is going on. It is very similar to her first book, in the way the protagonist is made to look crazy and you start to doubt her. The story is very different, though.
I was convinced it was going to be a five-star read, but the ending let me down a bit. It seemed rushed and not very well thought out. It pulled everything together and answered all the questions but I just finished it thinking oh was that it? I was expecting to be shocked and blown away, but it just fell short. I’m not saying it wasn’t a gripping read, as I was still awake at 2 am reading it last night wanting to know what had happened, but it just left me wanting something different from the story. It still gets a solid four stars, though!
