Desire makes everything bloom.
Violet
Charlie Blaze made my heart flutter that first day at freshman orientation. Two years later, I’m still content to admire him from afar, no matter what I write in my diary. He’s tall and athletic—the consummate jock complete with cocky friends and the requisite cheerleader girlfriend. When he comes to my library to work, he’s witty and kind, and I’m pleasantly surprised. But just when I think there’s more to Charlie than meets the eye, he shows me he’s like all the rest.
Guys like Charlie Blaze don’t belong with girls like me.
Charlie
There is something special about Violet Duchenne—it was obvious from the moment I laid eyes on her. But no matter how hard I try to get her attention, it’s clear she wants nothing to do with me. When my research project brings me to the library where she works, it seems I got her all wrong. She’s smart and funny, and she sees me in a way no one else does. Trouble is, the rest of my life isn’t on board—and that’s been made painfully clear to her.
Girls like Violet Duchenne don’t go for guys like me.

My Thoughts:

This is a very tender book as Violet is very shy and faced with Charlie’s confidence; they are adorable together.
After a couple of years of thinking of one another after they first met, they are finally in a place to get it on. However, there is a little drama first when Charlie acts all big boy on campus to his friends and hurts Violet’s feelings.
I was a little confused as to why he hadn’t pursued her before now. If they had such a strong attraction just by glancing at each other, why didn’t he go up and introduce himself? It was made out that she didn’t seem very warm in receiving such advances, but it all felt a little strange, and for so much time to have passed as well was very odd.
Anyway, that aside there was lots of chemistry between them and they were both likeable characters. As seems to be the theme with Fiona Starr books the characters jump in and get down and dirty and ask questions later. Even though the initial naughtiness was quite tame due to Violet’s innocence, it did follow the usual pattern.
Overall, an enjoyable short read but not the best of Fiona Starr’s I’m afraid.
