Reading Challenge Category: Book from Amazon Kindle Unlimited
Official Blurb:
What if a single 29 second phone-call could change your life forever? 'Give me one name. One person. And I will make them disappear . . .' When Sarah rescues a young girl in trouble, she expects nothing in return. But her act of bravery puts a powerful and dangerous man in her debt. He lives by his own brutal code, and all debts must be repaid - in the only way he knows how. He offers Sarah a way to solve a desperate situation with her intolerable boss. A once-in-a-lifetime deal that will make all her problems disappear. No consequences. No comeback. No chance of being found out. All it takes is a 29 second phone call. BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS A NAME TO GIVE. DON'T THEY?
My Thoughts:
So, I recently read ‘The Catch’ by this author, and it had one of the best twists and endings that I have read in a long time, so I decided to give another of Logan’s books a go. This one didn’t quite have the wow factor that ‘The Catch’ had; however, it was still rather marvellous.
Sarah does manage to get herself in quite a lot of pickles, and she keeps making the situation worse and worse. I don’t actually know, though, what her other options would have been. It wasn’t like she was making the wrong decision; it was just everything kept going badly for her.
I felt so frustrated on her behalf with the situation she was in through no fault of her own. Lovelock was a nasty piece of work, and the more he revealed his true colours, the more I was cheering Sarah on.
The dilemma the Russian presents to her certainly makes you think. Would you do that given the chance? I am fortunate enough not to have anyone I hate that much, so for me, it would be an easy pass, but if you were in Sarah’s position, what would you do?
The ending was great, but it did feel very complicated, this wasn’t helped by the significant pauses after something happened, but we wouldn’t be given all the details until a little while later. This made it quite hard for all the pieces to fall in place. However, it kept me on my toes, and it was a great ending.
The book as a whole completely gripped me, and I couldn’t put it down, and I’m looking forward to reading more of this author’s work in the future.
